Â
The Personal Banker works with several different areas of the bank including lending, business development, and retail clients. A great deal of effort is put into following new leads, responding to client requests for information and handling referrals from current customers and potential clients. The Personal Banker acts as a primary contact or secondary point of contact for clients. Duties include customer service functions in addition to business development duties. The personal banker may also act as an operations manager.Â

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Â
- Manages and grows a book of business focusing on different bank strategies (i.e. lending, community development, wealth management)
- Create and achieve personal goals that execute bank’s strategic vision. (i.e. propose business plan to achieve goals that align with office strategies)
- Contact prospective customers to present information and explain available services.
- Determine customers' financial services needs and prepare proposals to provide services that address these needs.
- Maintain and develop prospects from current commercial customers, referral leads, networking events, current book of business, branch network, etc.
- Represent company in community (i.e. networking groups, volunteering, etc.) to promote products and develop business opportunities.
- Maintain records related to business development and private banking. (i.e. call logs, book of business, blotters, etc.)
- Recommend ways to meet emerging client needs through proper channel (i.e. product development meeting, business development meeting, etc.)
- Opens new savings, checking, certificate, and IRA accounts including the preparation of account forms, file maintenance, verification of account information, and provide proper disclosures to customer i.e. account terms, disclosures, etc.
- Maintenance customer accounts/relationships i.e. close accounts, change address, order debit cards, etc.
- Actively provide efficient and courteous customer service, cross-marketing products and services to generate new business and build a customer relationship for the bank and customer when appropriate.
- Maintains knowledge of banks products/services/fees and be able to assist customer with inquires or questions relating to.
- Perform ATM settlement and teller functions (i.e. teller transactions, vault custodian, etc.) as required.
- Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.
- Ensure adherence to bank policies, goals, objectives, and procedures. Recommend changes to senior management when necessary.
- Ensure knowledge and compliance with established bank policies and procedures i.e. branch policy & procedure manual, mortgage and consumer loans policies and procedures, Employee Handbook, bank products and services, commercial loan policies & procedures, SOX control points, dual control, etc.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.
Educational/Training Requirement:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
- 5-10 years of customer service experience.
- 4-10 years of banking experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree preferred but can be substituted with bank management experience.
- Sales Experience preferred but can be substituted with bank experience.
- Management Experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent data entry skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
