Wells Fargo Compliance is part of the company's independent risk management function, providing company-wide leadership, standards, support, and independent oversight to ensure that all business groups abide by applicable laws, rules, regulations and regulatory requirements, while meeting compliance responsibilities and managing compliance risks.
Compliance challenges management decisions, business processes and activities, and evaluates and assesses adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. It provides appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to senior management and the Board of Directors, sets minimum standards for the company, and gives advice, guidance, and support for compliance risk management activities across the enterprise.
The Head of Strategy, Digital Platform and Innovation (SDI) Compliance leads all Compliance activities for SDI, one of ten enterprise functions across Wells Fargo. Enterprise Functions Compliance in Corporate Risk is accountable for providing independent risk management (second line of defense) oversight for all compliance risks and initiatives, including guidance for front line business leaders and control teams across SDI. The Head of SDI Compliance oversees all activities related to the identification, assessment, monitoring and oversight of SDI compliance with all Wells Fargo compliance policies and standards for applicable laws, rules and regulations. The Head of SDI Compliance will provide subject matter expertise to the head of SDI who is responsible for leading corporate strategic planning, defining and managing digital platform standards and capabilities, and managing innovation priorities, opportunities and company-wide efforts to drive transformation. This position reports to the Head of Enterprise Functions Compliance and will be expected to:
Direct and oversee SDI implementation of the Compliance Program Policy and all applicable compliance policies across SDI activities, including third parties managed by SDI
Provide strategic direction and guidance to SDI regarding applicable laws, rules, regulations, enterprise standards and compliance-related best practices.
Oversee and credibly challenge the reporting, escalation and timely remediation of SDI compliance-related issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters.
Provide reporting on the state of compliance in SDI to the Head of Enterprise Functions Compliance and appropriate executive management.
Oversee, credibly challenge and assess the business environment with respect to managing and mitigating compliance risk and establish processes to ensure effective and timely implementation of regulatory change requirements applicable to SDI.
Direct the implementation of effective compliance strategies to assess key risks and anticipate regulatory issues; and identify opportunities to simplify and drive consistency of solutions to strengthen compliance risk management.
Support effective coordination of compliance-related regulatory examinations and responses in SDI, and build and maintain effective relationships with all associated regulators.
Lead and actively participate as a standing attendee of the SDI Risk & Control Committee, and participate as a compliance representative on various business-based governance committees.
Foster an environment that ensures strong communication and cooperation across the three lines of defense, including business line leadership, Legal, Audit, Compliance and other corporate stakeholders to facilitate transparency, balance and credible challenge.
Sustain a strong risk culture that identifies and provides oversight and escalation of existing and emerging compliance issues across business groups, legal entities, geographies, and jurisdictions; and ensure that escalated compliance issues receive immediate senior management attention.
Create a culture of excellence by proactively attracting, retaining and developing a team of talented and diverse compliance professionals to support the execution of the SDI compliance program.

12+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 12+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 10+ years must include direct experience in risk management
10+ years of management experience
